about
This song is a sequel to one of the interludes on my previous album "Privacy Settings". It won't feature on my next album "Showtime" (missed the deadline).
"Jungle" is the name given to migrant camps in France. Yes, those camps are a humanitarian disgrace, but the government manages to make things even worse for those people who literally went through hell and high water to get there, when it proceeds to brutal evacuations without notice or prospect of decent housing. I care, I feel for our migrant brothers and sisters, Omar, Saida, Muhammad and Ziyed... One love ++
lyrics
So quiet in the jungle
Words & music: Yasmine Mohammedi (Yasmine Kyd)
tempo 68 - Am7
why did it all go so quiet in the jungle?
why did it all go so quiet where did they all go?
Omar, Saida, Muhammad and Zyad
at 6 in the morning, evacuated
nowhere to go, they didn't know
I can't sleep at night
my eyes are haunted by the people I left behind
and I'm too scared anyhow
if I had paper, I'd write it all down...
why did it all go so quiet in the jungle
why did it all go so quiet where did they all go
Omar, Saida, Muhammad and Zyad
at 6 in the morning, evacuated
nowhere to go, they didn't know...
